TikTok has reportedly not only introduced the option of uploading landscape videos but is now offering an incentive to encourage users to engage with the new feature.
A TikTok spokesperson said, “Landscape videos, where the width is greater than the height and are over 1 minute long, are the only ones eligible to receive increased views. Any video that meets the stated requirement will be boosted in-app for 72 hours and listed under “Best Content Formats.”
It’s important to note that while getting increased views for sharing landscape content is possible, it is not guaranteed.
TikTok’s choice to push for more landscape content could be linked to its ongoing competition with YouTube shorts for dominance over music discoverability and to solidify itself as an ongoing defender of its platform space.
We reckon it’s prime time to start injecting some landscape videos into your TikTok strategy and take advantage of the boosted exposure during this trial window!
