Elon Musk Removes Legacy Blue Ticks In Favour of Twitter Blue Users

Elon Musk announced on the 11th of this month that Twitter’s legacy blue ticks would finally be replaced after today (20/4/23) in favour of paid verification for Twitter Blue subscribers, which currently is priced at £11 a month in the UK.

Twitter has also been reinstating blue ticks on verified accounts, even if they do not have Twitter Blue subscription, gifting gold ticks to its top 500 advertisers and top 10,000 organisations, as well as a number of notable high profiles. Accounts with over a million followers will be able to keep their legacy blue ticks as a result.

This update benefits bigger brands, but means that it will be harder for small to midsize businesses to achieve a wide reach as Elon Musk also announced that users’ “For You” pages will prioritise those with blue ticks.
