Instagram has recently updated its features on Reels, now adding smoother in-app editing tools to discover trending content for creators. Users are now able to edit uploaded videos, audio, stickers and overlays within the app, in an effort to keep users on the app rather than opting for third party editors.
Instagram has also unveiled a new ‘Reels Trends’ page for trending hashtags and audio which creators can save for later use. The feature includes improved analytics for content creators, such as total watch time (including how many times your video was replayed), average watch time, and followers gained via Reels.
Creators are now able to use Instagram as a multi-use tool for creating, editing and reviewing their content’s performance on the app. More detailed information in analytics allows users to dissect what elements of their videos fuel the most engagement as well as which types of content are commanding repeat views. This will inform creator decisions, as they will know where to invest time and resources, and can tailor their format towards their more successful videos.
