Facebook is developing a new messaging app, called Threads, which is designed as a companion app to Instagram. It’s meant to enable constant sharing between users and their closest friends – automatically sharing location, speed, and battery life, whilst providing typical text, photo, and video messages using
Instagram’s creative tools.Ultimately, it looks like a messaging app built around close friends – so it definitely looks to be targeting Snapchat users. With no launch date in sight, and full details still to be announced, it isn’t clear how brands might be able to utilise the platform.
