Threads is now working on new in-app functionalities, including voice posts, a desktop app and hashtag support.

The move towards increasing app functionality will be essential to maintain and develop the user base – especially now the initial hype around the platform has faded. The first notable development is allowing users to attach voice clips in addition to images and videos to enhance their posts.

Other features include a new “repost” function where viewers can see what each user has shared and the long-awaited hashtag support. However, since the announcement, the platform now seems to be focusing on general text search rather than supporting hashtags.
