TikTok has announced the closure of its "TikTok Music" streaming app due to operational challenges and limited user interest.
Originally launched as "Resso" in India in 2019, the app was later rebranded and expanded to markets like Brazil and Indonesia. However, it struggled to gain momentum and faced disputes over music licensing.
Set to close on November 28, 2024, users have until October 28 to transfer playlists and until November 28 to request refunds.
TikTok states it will now shift its focus to enhancing its core app’s role in music promotion, aiming to focus on benefiting both artists and the broader industry.
