Twitter has started the roll out of extended Tweets to Twitter Blue subscribers in the US, enabling posts of up to 4,000 characters long. The extended Tweets will be displayed as standard length in the feed, with an option to ‘show more’.
We think this new feature is a useful adjustment to the platform in terms of being able to share a message without cutting out information to meet the character limit. It could, however, diminish Twitter’s ‘on the spot’ nature, characterised by short, quick dialogue.
