YouTube Cracks Down on Copyright

YouTube has announced implementing new programmes to better manage generative AI in music content - improving copyright screening to protect artists and creators.

The program is still in the works and will include checking remixes and replicas in an AI  likeness test to check for copyright infringements.

YouTube CEO Neal Mogan outlined what guided the platform’s decision:

“People are going to use AI to violate copyright unless we establish new rules also to cover simulated use of artists' work.”

The new programme aims to detect specific voices, styles, and depictions of celebrities, including musicians, doing things they did not do to prevent dishonesty.

This could be revolutionary for music creators as users now have to accredit creators, increasing exposure, while higher-profile creators who charge for usage rights can monetise their work more effectively.
