After months of testing, YouTube has officially launched its "Add Yours" sticker for Shorts.
This feature resembles Instagram’s “Add Yours” sticker, which in turn was inspired by TikTok’s Duet function.
These aim to encourage viewers to create their own takes on Shorts clips, increasing content volume and potentially influencing online trends.
As social platforms continue to borrow features from one another, this strategy effectively maintains user engagement without significant investment in new research and development.
However, this approach risks making all apps feel very similar. Yet, despite this concern, YouTube Shorts has experienced remarkable growth, boasting over 70 billion daily views, and this new feature aims to further enhance engagement.
While the lack of originality may seem uninspiring, it could be a strategic move, especially given TikTok’s uncertain future in the U.S.
