2024 in Review - Music & Marketing

From sell-out world tours to specialist books via Oscar-buzz films and viral dog videos, we’ve seen and done it all this year with our marketing campaigns! Here’s what went down in 2024…

Big Wins

We’ll start with long-term client Annie Mac, who took her Before Midnight event into the stratosphere - almost literally - with a run of sell-out shows culminating in the show-stopping 10,000-capacity Gunnersby Park party in London late this summer. As always, we were on hand with full digital marketing support, working with the promoter and the rest of Annie’s team to deliver another successful event.

Sticking with our longest clients, Darude - and let’s be honest, a lot of the world - celebrated the 25th Anniversary of ‘Sandstorm’ with the beginnings of a year-long party. With much still to be revealed, we built and created the campaign behind Storm25.world. Sign up and watch this space to discover what’s to come! We were there every step of the way with a full range of digital marketing, including paid social, organic strategy, email marketing and design.

The dance music success continued for American techno pioneers Octave One, with one of their many highlights being their third Boiler Room show in Berlin, which we celebrated on their ever-growing social channels. Sticking with techno, our work with Dubfire continued to hit new heights as we supported the launch of his EVOLV The Remixes album.

It was also a welcome return to critically acclaimed producer and DJ Daniel Avery as we worked together on the launch of his Techno Is Boring book, an instant classic that collects ‘a decade of work chronicling club culture in visceral form’ (and no, we’re not saying that just because he sent us books with lovely dedications!).

From techno masters to the new wave of producers and DJs, we loved working with Dutch duo Weval on their seismic Night Versions EP and their tour across Europe and the US.

2024 wasn’t just about music marketing for us, as we also had success in the cinematic, corporate and canine world!

We worked with Oscar-winner Riz Ahmed as he returned with throwback-thriller Relay, which debuted with some Oscar buzz late this year, while we once more helped All Day Hey! - the leading tech conference for the North of England - to another hugely successful and widely celebrated event!

And finally, we were delighted to begin our work with natural dog supplement company Better Dog, as we worked with them on the launch of its new product range, Better Every Day. We built out BD’s paid and organic content strategy to push Better Hydration out to a new audience and developed an email marketing strategy designed to convert followers into sales.

And The Rest

Beyond the agency wins for our music marketing team, there were plenty of other highlights this year!

We let Better Dog take the lead (pun intended) as their more inspired marketing ideas came to life thanks to some Oscar-worthy acting by the four-legged Better Dog crew.

The team grew once more as we welcomed all-around design genius Alex!

We also made some international moves - although nothing much happened for about the first 15 hours due to massive delays getting to ADE for the annual dance music conference!

In amongst that, we found time to launch our essential marketing podcast, A Mugful of Marketing, now on its 19th episode and seen by over 100k people across YouTube and TikTok. That conversation continued on our blog as we covered essential topics like the Oasis comeback, the rise and rise of AI (and what it means for your marketing), sustainable live music and the marketing disaster that was the Co-Op Live launch.

There’s no doubting the biggest milestone, however, as One Nine Nine turned five, a feat we celebrated with a cake, more cake, a party and then dashing back to the office for several release deadlines.

Thanks to everyone we’ve worked with this year; here’s to another five years!
