As the amount of AI-generated content on social media increases, it's becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate between real and AI-generated content.Â
So, to counteract the influx of artificially intelligent content, Meta has brought in new AI Disclosure Requirements to increase transparency on its platforms.Â
Users must now label posts that contain AI-generated or altered images, videos or audio. This measure aims to help users identify AI-manipulated content, particularly in ads related to social issues, elections and politics, reducing the risk of misinformation.Â
Ironically, Meta-AI systems are said to check and flag unlabelled AI content and any misinformation. While it is still unclear what the repercussions for posting unlabelled AI content are, it's not worth the risk.
