All users can now download all publicly posted reels on Instagram - making them a lot easier to then share on other platforms
The new download button is set to appear in the Reels ‘share’ option display. It’s important to note that creators can protect their reels by turning off the now-default option if they prefer viewers not to use them.
The downloaded reels will feature an Instagram watermark - and it’s possible this may reduce the exposure of cross-pollinated posts on Tik Tok who might take a dislike to the prominent Instagram branding.
Creators can expect this new development to cause a spike in user-sharing popular clips from IG in TikTok, expand the scope of creativity, and remake popular trends.
This may be a small development, but it could boost engagement and exposure for creators.
